Neither format is universally better — they suit different event sizes and atmospheres.
Buffet Service
Best for larger, more casual events where guests move around and mingle. It gives people control over portions and dish choices, and generally handles large guest counts more efficiently than plated service.
Plated Service
Suits smaller, more formal gatherings — engagements, intimate anniversaries — where a seated, structured meal fits the mood better. It needs more serving staff per guest than a buffet does.
A Hybrid Approach
Many events use a buffet for the main course paired with a few live counters for starters and dessert — combining the efficiency of a buffet with the energy of live cooking stations.
