Vegetarian vs Non-Vegetarian Catering: What to Choose for Your Event

There's no universally right answer — only the right answer for your guest list, your venue, and your family's traditions.

Vegetarian vs Non-Vegetarian Catering: What to Choose for Your Event

This is one of the first questions we ask every client, and it shapes the whole event — from counter layout to kitchen staffing. Here's how to think it through.

Consider Your Guest List First

If a large share of your guests are strictly vegetarian for religious or personal reasons, a pure vegetarian menu with a wide variety of dishes usually satisfies everyone better than a mixed menu with thin vegetarian options.

A 'Both' Menu Needs Careful Counter Planning

Serving both isn't just doubling the menu — it means separate cooking equipment, separate serving counters, and clear labelling so guests never have to ask. We keep vegetarian and non-vegetarian live counters physically apart to avoid any cross-contact concerns.

Religious and Community Events

Langars and most religious functions are traditionally vegetarian. If you're catering for a gurdwara or temple event, this isn't really a choice to weigh — the menu should stay vegetarian throughout.

Our Recommendation

When in doubt, a well-built vegetarian menu with 2–3 strong live counters (chaat, live tawa, a dessert station) rarely disappoints — even confirmed non-vegetarian eaters. Reserve a dedicated non-veg spread for events where you know it matters to your guests.
